WHO WE ARE
Akila O'Connor
Akila holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration & Governance with a minor in Nonprofit and Voluntary Management and a specialization in the creative industries. Akila attended Toronto Metropolitan University from 2016 and was incubated through the DMZ's Social Venture Zone and Fashion Zone; completing her studies with distinction in October 2023. She continues to explore the findings of her practicum research ‘An Arts Education Approach For Toronto’s At Risk Youth, Hybrid Partnership Model’.
Akila is a professional grant writer, creative art director and project manager. She works closely with local artists, brands, community leaders and nonprofit organizations to realize creative project goals. She continues to expand her portfolio with conceptual collaboration projects on behalf of her clients. AO Consultancy is Akila’s corporate firm and Stay True Foundation is a social enterprise primarily focused on arts education, and community related cultural benefits.

Grant Writing is the art of proposal creation for the purpose of project or business funding applications. Grant writing is a highly specialized skill that requires a subjective eye for artistic perspective and an objective footing pertaining to the business aspects. We offer grant writing to serious artists and creatives who are committed to investing time, energy and financial resources.
Project Management is beneficial to creatives who require professional oversight to ensure a project or initiative is executed successfully from start to finish. This may include planning, organizing, and or supervising the work of a team to achieve all project goals within a given timeline and budget. We offer event coordination, production management, and executive assistance among other services.
Creative Art Direction is the conceptual development of artistic projects, initiatives and creative assets on behalf of artists and clients. We design and write professional innovative slide decks, editorial biographies and electronic press kits on behalf of organizations, creative entrepreneurs and individuals.
